Elder Lodge

The oldest pilot lodge of the Basin, on the poor island of Crotan, whose book runs back further than any harbour's.

At the table

It is the only lodge that will lend a pilot to another port's water, and does so by sending him for seven years. Every harbour defers to Crotan because of it, and pilots still go there to ask what they do not know; a civil firm is remembered there for a generation.
