Wye household guard
Also called the household's armed establishment · the establishment · fourteen men in the earl's colours
The Pikes' household guard: fourteen men under arms, another dozen who can be armed, and the stables, the nearest thing Kent has to a standing force outside the militia. Its doctrine is arriving, in the earl's colours, before a disturbance has finished happening.

At the table
Used eleven times in six years, weapon drawn twice. Arrives only at a constable's request and withdraws when a magistrate appears. Hires bands five or six times a year at a little above the county rate; will not rehire a band that was late. Four company houses use the marshal's terms as their standard form. Its men will walk the chase at night but not the top of it.
