Redham Foot garrison

A six-man blockhouse whose gatehouse bell is rung on a private schedule. The garrison teaches the schedule to each new serjeant and will not explain it to outsiders.

Asked about the bell, two serjeants told the under-sheriff it is 'the practice of the house'. The garrison's rule of holding the ford in the dark without crossing comes from the Redham Ford Night.
