Quarantine office

The health authority that prohibits passage over ground for sickness in beasts or people or for bad water. It is the youngest and most used of the four authorities that shut ground.

At the table

A prohibition takes a fortnight and is renewed each Michaelmas by a clerk's entry, so many rest on forgotten causes. The roll is public and a clerk will read it out for a small fee. A prohibition forbids passage but not presence at the edge.
