A mercenary company remembered from the War of the Two Kings, made up of Afflicted veterans, outcasts and hard-handed servants whose marks made ordinary service difficult. The name was first a mockery by enemies and then adopted by the band.
An infamous mercenary band whose soldiers were counted among the Afflicted, which fought against the Pretender in the War of the Two Kings.

Fought against the Pretender and became infamous for night movement, ditch fighting and the unsettling piety with which its soldiers entered battle under painted crosses. Its service made the Afflicted more dangerous to imagine rather than redeeming them. Cited as proof that the Afflicted can command fear as effectively as anyone.
