Brotherhood of the Lantern Grave

A religious brotherhood which, in the Spirit War of the Three Fens as recited in the March, got men through contested marsh tracks with mire bells, saint ash and bound reed standards.
An order that came out of the Grey Necromancer War, made up of grave brothers, lantern sergeants, burial clerks and warpriests trained to secure corpse lines and charnel yards. A grave-route suppressing order that keeps burial ledgers, recovers what has been taken from graves and stands against the necromantic trades.

At the table
Expensive, called late and resented afterwards, like the other suppressing orders. Brother Amory notes that of six men on a suppression two work and four hold the line, and the line is the dangerous part. Known in this part only from the reed men's telling of the Spirit War of the Three Fens, heard before any vote on cutting a no-cut ground. It keeps no house in the march, yet is the only body in the realm that will still come north for a failed burial road. Parishes that have sent for it can name the year without being asked.
