Aerial Board

The board, answerable to proprietors, that builds and works Britannia's chain of skyship mooring masts and relay yards, carrying mail, small specie, medicines, persons and machine parts. It is loss-making in strict accounting and kept up for prestige and as a signal system; other aerial companies also hold masts.

At the table

Masts are consecrated at their raising like lighthouses and the names of men killed building them are cut at the foot. Crews keep house lists of things never carried aboard. Standing instruction in a disturbance is to destroy the store and abandon the head (acted on three times). An argument over second masts is opening; firms near the board did well from the last two masts and expect more construction work. Medicines are carried ahead of paying freight at masters' discretion.
